Welcome

Hi, I'm a radio journalist and presenter working for the BBC in Oxfordshire and this is my website.

I'm in the process of changing the design of it, but testing my own skills with something called Joomla.  I'm painfully slow at it, so bear with me.

Some of the website is about my work life, but I'm hoping a significant section will be all about walks.  Thanks to BBC Radio Oxford's monthly walks I have a growing list of routes that you might want to go and try.  Have a look in the Walks section for more.

I've done lots of things over the years but at the moment you can hear me helping out on BBC Radio Oxfords Breakfast Club normally out and about with my reporter hat on.

This website is a bit biographical and a place for me to be self centred and talk about myself and the things that interest me.  I gave up facebook, so this is now taking my time.

Oh, if I seem a bit schizophrenic on the name front, it's because I am married to a Kelly... so Mercer-Kelly, but on-air still go by Mercer.

A short series for BBC Radio Oxford

Sometimes we get a chance to work on special little projects at work, and this is one that I really enjoyed.

It involved hearing about the work the Pitt Rivers museum in Oxford is doing to tackle its rather controversial content!  A lot of it was collected at the height of colonial times and in not a very nice way.

The team at the Museum were great, allowing me to record some interviews in person (although socially distanced of course) in a short lull in the Coronavirus Pandemic in late 2020.  We recorded them from pretty much the spot this photo is taken from.  It gives you an idea of the scale of the place, and the scale of the work they have ahead of them.
